Courtyard Life

The Dolphin is a Grade II listed building and was considered the oldest hotel in the UK. The building itself dates back to 1250. and is recognised in the top 1% of the most important heritage buildings in the UK.


Come stay at this amazing and unique building where previous guests have been novelists Jane Austen, William Makepeace Thackery, historian Edward Gibbon and even Queen Victoria.


Now, it is your turn to make history.

Jane Austen danced in the original Dolphin ballroom between 1806 and 1809 which included attending a ball for her 18th birthday. In one of her letters the author mentioned stated that... "Our ball was rather more amusing than I expected.."
